O ENSINO DE LÍNGUA INGLESA POR MEIO DO GÊNERO NOTÍCIA / ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHING THROUGH NEWSGENRE

      O subprojeto Language and Literature (2014-2017), do curso de Licenciatura em Letras-Inglês da Universidade Federal de Goiás/ Regional Jataí, tem como objetivos: (1) oferecer ensino de língua inglesa de uma forma diferenciada aos alunos do colégio parceiro, o Colégio Estadual Marcondes de Godoy, e (2) proporcionar aos bolsistas o contato com o dia-a-dia do contexto das escolas públicas durante a graduação. Como forma de atingir essas metas, os bolsistas ministram oficinas, oferecem monitorias, dão assistência aos professores, organizam eventos culturais, elaboram mensalmente um quadro de notícias e participam de eventos científicos. Neste artigo, apresentaremos os resultados obtidos com a oficina “Ensinando inglês por meio do gênero notícia”, ministrada à turma de terceiro ano do colégio parceiro. Os Parâmetros Curriculares Nacionais sugerem que o ensino de língua estrangeira seja feito por meio de gêneros textuais, pois, através da leitura de diferentes gêneros, o aluno consegue se apropriar da língua-alvo, tanto em seus aspectos morfossintáticos, como nos socioculturais. Os bolsistas, tomando as definições dos PCN, procuraram contextualizar o ensino de inglês com notícias originais em língua inglesa.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHING THROUGH NEWSGENRE

Abstract

The project ‘Language and Literature’ (2014-2017), performed by the scholarship students of the ‘Language Teaching and Literature’ course from the Federal University of Goiás, Jataí Unit, has the following objectives: (1) To offer a dynamic and different way of teaching English Language to the students of the partner school, Marcondes de Godoy. (2) To provide the scholarship students the daily contact with the public schools context throughout the under-graduation course. In order to achieve these goals, the scholarship students give workshops, offer monitoring programs, provide support to the teachers, organize cultural events, elaborate the monthly news board and take part of scientific events. In this article, we present the results obtained from the application of the workshop ‘Teaching English through the genre News’, given to the third grade of High School. The National Curriculum Standards suggest a model of English teaching through genres, for by means of reading different textual genres, the student can take ownership of the target language, both its morphosyntactic and sociocultural aspects. The scholarship students, based on the National Curriculum Standards, tried to contextualize the English teaching using genuine news in English language.
